Picture Of A Real Mummified Person Below.

Real Urban Legends

The Urban Legend that surrounds the picture above taking at: Nu-Pike Amusement Park in Long Beach, California, USA.

This is a prop that was used at a carnival haunted house to scare the customers that entered, children would laugh and poke at the life size mummified prop. Adults would comment on how real it looked.

But this was to be no ordinary prop made up of wax or papier mache, no! It was a real mummified man made of skin and bone.

This fact only came to life when a doctor his wife and child entered the haunted house back in 1976. The first thing he became suspect of was the smell, then as he examined the mummified man more closely, he discovered that the skin on the mummy had hairs on it's arms.

He and his family abruptly left the haunted house, then contacted the authorities of his findings.

The doctor was proved correct, it was a real mummified man.

Big Ben's Bell Urban Legend Fact.

This is more of an urban fact rather than legend, but I found it interesting.

Big Ben is famous the world over. But Big Ben is only the name giving to the bell. The building itself, is called the Houses of Parliment.

A scientific experiment was carried out with Big Ben. They have a microphone attached to the bell for when it strikes. This is then played on television and radio news programs through-out the UK. Click here to hear 'Big Ben'.

A man was placed directly below Big Ben, with a radio tuned into the news. The Urban Myth experiment was to see which Big Ben he would hear strike first? The one played on the radio or the real Big Ben?

Well the answer believe it or not was the radio. This is because radio waves travel the speed of light, (the speed of light = 299 792 458 miles per second) where-as poor old Big Ben can only muster the speed of sound (speed of sound at sea level = 340.29 miles per second).
